IOB Security Guard Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Important: Persons with Disabilities, Disabled Ex-Servicemen and Dependants of Servicemen killed in action are not eligible for this recruitment.

IOB Security Guard Educational Qualification 2026

Candidates must have passed 10th standard or its equivalent examination. However, the candidate should not have passed Graduation or an equivalent examination.

In addition to the educational qualification, candidates must be able to speak, read and write Tamil.

IOB Security Guard Age Limit 2026

The minimum age is 18 years, and age is reckoned as on 1 August 2026. The applicable upper age depends on the candidate's category and the Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveer relaxation rules.

The maximum age limit of 45 years for Ex-Servicemen applies uniformly across the categories where the Ex-Servicemen relaxation is applicable.

IOB Security Guard Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Subordinate Staff Cadre and will receive the pay scale prescribed under the 12th Bipartite Settlement.

The basic pay fixation will be based on the last drawn salary during defence service, along with applicable emoluments under the industry-wide Bipartite Settlement and Bank policies.

The probation period is six months of active service. Candidates will be confirmed after successfully completing the probation period.

IOB Security Guard Duties and Job Profile

The Security Guard will be responsible for security and surveillance of Bank premises and related security duties. The work may include:

• Security and surveillance of Bank premises.
• Operating security equipment such as CCTV, DFMD, HHMD and access-control systems.
• Maintaining and handling fire alarm and fire-fighting equipment.
• Performing security duties in shifts, including night shifts.
• Working according to the Bank's security and operational requirements.

IOB Security Guard Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of three stages:

1. Online Objective Test
2. Local Language Test - Tamil
3. Physical Fitness Test

IOB Security Guard Online Test Exam Pattern 2026

The Online Objective Test carries a total of 80 marks.

The overall cut-off scores for General and Reserved category candidates in the Online Test and Local Language Test will be decided by the Bank based on candidate performance.

IOB Security Guard Tamil Language Test 2026

The Local Language Test will assess the candidate's knowledge of Tamil and carries a maximum of 20 marks.

Since candidates are required to speak, read and write Tamil, applicants should be prepared to demonstrate practical proficiency in the local language during the selection process.

IOB Security Guard Physical Fitness Test 2026

The Physical Fitness Test carries a total of 100 marks. Candidates must compulsorily qualify in each of the four individual physical tests. Only one attempt is permitted for each sub-test.

Push-Ups and Sit-Ups Scoring

• 30 or more repetitions: 30 marks
• 21-29 repetitions: 25 marks
• 15-20 repetitions: 20 marks
• 14 or below: Fail

1 Kilometre Run Scoring

• Under 4 minutes: 30 marks
• 4-5 minutes: 20 marks
• 5-6 minutes: 10 marks
• Over 6 minutes: Fail

The Drill test assesses word of command, saluting and movements. Candidates must obtain the prescribed minimum score in every sub-test; simply achieving the overall total of 65 marks is not sufficient if an individual sub-test is failed.

The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted at IOB Central Office, Chennai.

Candidates must also submit a medical fitness certificate not older than 15 days from a Civil Assistant Surgeon or above before appearing for the Physical Fitness Test.

Candidates preparing for this recruitment should divide preparation time between the 80-mark Online Objective Test, the 20-mark Tamil Language Test and the 100-mark Physical Fitness Test.
