ISRO Scientist Engineer Recruitment 2026 Preparation Focus
The written examination places the highest emphasis on the candidate's engineering discipline because Part A carries 80 marks. Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science candidates should therefore prioritise core degree subjects and combine conceptual revision with timed objective-question practice.
Part A also carries a 1/3 negative mark for every incorrect response, so random guessing can reduce the score. Part B has no negative marking and tests numerical, logical, diagrammatic, abstract and deductive reasoning. Candidates can strengthen the non-technical portion with regular practice while continuing to follow daily current affairs, Static GK and the daily current affairs quiz.
Because the final panel gives 50% weightage each to the Written Test and Interview, candidates should not treat the interview as a formality. Technical academic knowledge alone carries 40 of the 100 interview marks, while technical awareness and communication together account for another 40 marks.
