  • Class 6 Pass Mark Sheet or higher qualification certificate for Backward Tribes.
  • Class 8 Pass Certificate or higher qualification certificate for other eligible Naga Tribes.

Original certificates must be produced whenever called for and during the interview. The notification warns that fake or forged documents can lead to rejection, disqualification and other action under applicable rules and law.

Nagaland Police Constable Preparation Focus 2026

The PET carries 45 marks, slightly more than the 40 marks allotted to the Written Examination. Candidates should therefore prepare physical fitness and academic subjects in parallel rather than waiting until after the physical stage.

Running is the highest-value individual PET event at 20 marks, followed by Pull-Ups at 15 marks. High Jump and Long Jump carry 5 marks each. For the written examination, applicants should focus on General Awareness, General Knowledge, basic Science, History, Polity, Mathematics, Nagaland-related knowledge, Naga Culture and Heritage, and mental aptitude.

Because progression from PET to the Written Test is based on a merit list in the ratio of 1:10 against vacancies for each tribe/gender, merely clearing the minimum physical standard may not be enough. Candidates should aim for the strongest possible PET score while remaining within safe and sustainable training limits.

Nagaland Police Constable Merit List and Waiting List 2026

After completion of the prescribed recruitment stages, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in PET, Written Examination and Interview, including applicable NCC certification marks.

The recruitment board will also maintain a waiting list for each district/tribe. The waiting list will contain 10% or 5 persons, whichever is higher, of the total advertised posts for the district/tribe concerned. It will be used only against non-acceptance, resignation, desertion or discharge of selected candidates.

The waiting list remains valid for 45 days from publication of the final results and does not provide preferential rights in a future recruitment.

Nagaland Police Constable Probation and Posting

Selected appointees will be on probation for a period of 2 years. After successful completion of probation, confirmation in service will be subject to the prescribed Medical Board recommendation, verification of antecedents and fulfilment of service-rule conditions.

Fresh recruits will initially be deployed in the IR Battalions and can be required to serve anywhere within Nagaland according to Police/Home Department instructions.
