Nationality/Citizenship: Applicants must satisfy the nationality conditions stated in the notification, including Indian citizens and other eligible categories such as subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, certain Tibetan refugees, and eligible persons of Indian origin, subject to the prescribed Government of India eligibility certificate where required.

Local language requirement: Tamil is required for Tamil Nadu, Kannada for Karnataka, Marathi for Maharashtra and Gujarati for Gujarat. Local Bank Officers are appointed in JMGS-I / Scale I. In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are eligible for DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances as per Bank rules in force from time to time.

Eligible prior service as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank may earn one advance increment for each completed year, up to a maximum of 2 increments, when the previous job profile substantially matches that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer and the prescribed proof is produced.

Selection is carried out through the following stages:

• Online Examination: 140 objective questions for 200 marks with a total duration of 3 hours. A penalty of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer; unattempted questions carry no penalty.
• Language Proficiency Test: applicable to shortlisted candidates who did not study the relevant state language in Class X or XII. Failure to qualify the LPT ends the candidature.
• Personal Interview: carries 100 marks and follows the applicable language-proficiency requirement.

There is no sectional cut-off. The minimum qualifying aggregate in the online examination is 30% for reserved-category candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates. The Personal Interview qualifying marks are 45% for reserved categories and 50% for unreserved candidates. Final selection uses Online Examination and Interview scores in an 80:20 ratio, with the final merit prepared state-wise and category-wise.
