Introduction to BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the official BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026 notification for 32,388 School Teacher vacancies under Advertisement No. 14/2026. The recruitment covers teaching positions in Primary Schools for Classes 1-5, Middle Schools for Classes 6-8, Secondary Schools for Classes 9-10 and Higher Secondary Schools for Classes 11-12 under the Education Department, Government of Bihar.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Basic Eligibility
- The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
- The candidate must possess the prescribed educational and teacher-training qualification for the relevant school level.
- The required qualification must conform to applicable NCTE norms, or RCI norms for applicable Special School Teacher posts.
- The required CTET, BTET or STET qualification must be held as applicable to the post.

Teachers appointed and working before 2012 who have passed the prescribed competency examination may be exempt from the TET requirement under the conditions given in the notification.
STET 2026 Appearing Candidates
Candidates who already possess the required educational qualification and are appearing in STET 2026 may apply by submitting the prescribed self-declaration. However, they must qualify STET 2026 before the Preliminary Examination. Candidates who do not qualify STET 2026 will not be issued the Preliminary Examination admit card under this provision.
BPSC TRE 4.0 Educational Qualification 2026
Primary Teacher - Classes 1 to 5
Eligible qualification pathways include Senior Secondary or equivalent with the prescribed marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, a 4-year B.El.Ed., Graduation with the prescribed elementary teacher-training qualification, or other qualifications recognised under the applicable NCTE rules.
Candidates must also possess the required CTET Paper-I or BTET Paper-I qualification, subject to exemptions specifically mentioned in the notification.
Middle School Teacher - Classes 6 to 8
Candidates generally require Graduation or Post-Graduation together with an eligible teacher-training qualification such as D.El.Ed., B.Ed., B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed., B.El.Ed., B.Ed. Special Education or another prescribed NCTE-recognised pathway.
Subject teachers must also satisfy the prescribed subject combination at Graduation level. Language teachers are required to meet the corresponding language-study conditions. CTET Paper-II or BTET Paper-II is required unless an applicable exemption applies.
Secondary Teacher - Classes 9 to 10
Candidates generally need Graduation/Post-Graduation in the relevant subject with the prescribed percentage together with B.Ed. or an equivalent recognised teacher-training qualification. Applicants must satisfy the exact subject-combination rules given in the notification.
For Secondary Teacher posts, STET Paper-I is required. Separate qualification conditions apply to Physical Education, Music and Special Education posts.
Higher Secondary Teacher - Classes 11 to 12
Applicants generally require a Post-Graduate qualification in the relevant subject along with B.Ed. or another eligible teacher-training qualification recognised under applicable rules. Higher Secondary applicants must satisfy the detailed subject mapping prescribed by BPSC.
STET Paper-II is required for Higher Secondary Teacher recruitment. Special qualification pathways apply to subjects such as Computer Science and certain professional disciplines.
Important: TRE 4.0 contains extensive subject-specific eligibility conditions. Candidates should not rely only on a general qualification summary. BPSC TRE 4.0 Age Limit 2026
The recruitment uses separate reference dates for minimum and maximum age. The minimum age is reckoned as on 1 August 2026, while the maximum age is reckoned as on 1 August 2024 according to the recruitment conditions.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Application Fee 2026
The notified application/examination fee is Rs 100. Candidates applying for more than one applicable post or post group must pay the prescribed fee separately for each application where required.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Salary 2026
Selected candidates will receive the prescribed initial pay for their respective teaching level along with other admissible allowances under Bihar Government rules.

The Language component is qualifying in nature and candidates must secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks. Merit is prepared from the marks specified for the relevant non-qualifying portions of the Main Examination.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Guest Teacher Weightage
Eligible Guest Teachers claiming the benefit under the applicable Education Department resolutions and court directions may receive 5 marks for each completed year of qualifying service, subject to a maximum of 25 marks. The benefit is subject to submission and verification of the prescribed service and appointment certificates.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Preparation Focus
The introduction of 1/3 negative marking means candidates need to balance speed with accuracy. The five-option system also makes examination instructions especially important because simply leaving a question blank may not be treated the same as intentionally selecting the designated non-attempt option.
The Preliminary Examination includes current affairs, Bihar history, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, science and mental ability. Candidates can strengthen these sections with daily current affairs, revise factual areas through Static GK and improve recall through the daily current affairs quiz.
For the Main Examination, subject teachers should devote most of their revision time to the concerned subject while ensuring that the qualifying language portion is not neglected.
