Professor Eligibility - General Pattern

For many Professor specialities, the notification prescribes a relevant postgraduate medical qualification together with approximately 3 years' experience as Associate Professor in the concerned subject at a recognised medical institution. Equivalent routes are specified for certain candidates, including eligible Specialist Medical Officers of the Armed Forces and qualifying Senior Consultants.

For applicable specialities, candidates may also be required to have at least two research publications after becoming Associate Professor, be among the first three authors and have completed the prescribed Basic Course in Biomedical Research. Some broad-speciality posts also carry requirements relating to the Basic Course in Medical Education.

Assistant Professor Eligibility - General Pattern

For many Assistant Professor posts, candidates need the applicable MD/MS/DNB/DM/M.Ch. or other prescribed qualification and the required Senior Resident or teaching experience after obtaining the postgraduate qualification.
