Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli has released three separate apprentice notifications for the training year 2026-27, offering a combined total of 530 apprenticeship vacancies for ITI, Diploma and Degree holders.

The recruitment includes 380 Trade Apprentice posts, 60 Technician Apprentice posts and 90 Graduate Apprentice posts. Applications are accepted online through the BHEL Trichy Apprenticeship Application Portal from 14 August 2026 at 15:00 Hrs to 12 September 2026 at 23:45 Hrs.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is a Government of India undertaking and one of the country's major engineering and manufacturing public sector enterprises. The present apprenticeship engagement is being conducted by BHEL's Tiruchirappalli unit through its Human Resource Department for the training year 2026-27.

The apprenticeship is intended to provide structured practical training to eligible ITI, Diploma and Degree holders under the applicable provisions of the Apprentices Act. The duration of training for the notified apprentice categories is one year.

BHEL Trichy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility varies according to the apprentice category. Candidates must have completed the prescribed qualification as a regular full-time candidate from a recognised institution.

BHEL Trade Apprentice Educational Qualification 2026

Trade Apprentice candidates must have passed High School / 10th Standard and completed a regular full-time ITI course from an NCVT/SCVT recognised institute in the relevant trade.

For all Trade Apprentice posts except Welder, an NCVT or SCVT certificate is accepted. For the Welder trade, only NCVT candidates are considered under the notification.

Candidates who completed ITI through Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence or Sandwich mode are not considered eligible.

BHEL Technician Apprentice Qualification 2026

Technician Apprentice candidates must have passed High School and obtained a regular full-time Diploma in Engineering from a Government-recognised institute.

Only candidates who completed their full-time Diploma in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible to apply.

Diplomas obtained through Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence or Sandwich courses are not accepted for this apprenticeship.

BHEL Graduate Apprentice Qualification 2026

The Graduate Apprentice qualification varies by discipline:

Graduate applicants must have completed the prescribed full-time Degree in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.

Degree qualifications completed through Distance Learning, Part-Time, Correspondence or Sandwich mode are not accepted.

The Graduate Apprentice notification also states that candidates who have completed a postgraduate qualification, including an integrated postgraduate course, are not eligible for apprenticeship training as per the applicable NATS process manual.

Tamil Nadu Institution Preference in BHEL Apprentice Selection

The official notifications state that candidates who passed the qualifying examination from Government-recognised academic institutions located in Tamil Nadu will be considered for selection.

If suitable Tamil Nadu candidates are unavailable for any notified discipline or trade, vacancies may then be filled with candidates from outside Tamil Nadu according to the applicable procedure.

Candidates from other states should therefore read this condition carefully before submitting their application.

BHEL Trichy Apprentice Training Duration and Facilities

Candidates should note that apprenticeship engagement is training and does not guarantee permanent employment in BHEL.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship period, BHEL is under no obligation to offer employment, and apprentices cannot claim a right to employment merely because they completed apprenticeship training.
