Introduction to RRB NTPC Graduate Recruitment 2026

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released the official notification for RRB NTPC Graduate Recruitment 2026 through Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 06/2026.

A total of 3,548 graduate-level vacancies have been announced for four Non-Technical Popular Category posts: Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Goods Train Manager, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist.

The online application process starts on 8 October 2026 and will remain open until 6 November 2026 at 11:59 PM. Candidates must possess a recognised Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification by the closing date.

The recruitment process consists of CBT 1, CBT 2, Document Verification and Medical Examination. Unlike some earlier NTPC cycles, this recruitment does not have a separate Typing Skill Test or CBAT for the four notified Graduate posts.

The official CEN No. 06/2026 announces 3,548 vacancies across four Graduate-level posts. Goods Train Manager has the largest vacancy share with 2,750 posts.

RRB-wise, Railway Zone-wise and post-wise vacancy distribution is given in Annexure-B of the official notification. Candidates should check vacancy availability under the specific RRB they intend to select before submitting the application.

The initial basic pay depends on the post and 7th CPC pay level.

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are eligible for applicable Railway allowances and benefits as per rules.

RRB NTPC Graduate Selection Process 2026

The official selection process under CEN No. 06/2026 consists of:

1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT 1)

Candidates shortlisted for Document Verification are generally called RRB-wise in the ratio of approximately 1:1 against the notified vacancies, based on merit in the CBT stages and applicable rules.

The first-stage Computer Based Test contains 100 questions for 100 marks.

• Negative Marking: 1/3 mark per incorrect answer

RRB NTPC Minimum Qualifying Marks 2026

The minimum qualifying marks may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved PwBD vacancies, subject to the rules in the notification.

RRB NTPC Medical Standards 2026

Candidates should carefully check the medical and vision standards before selecting their post preferences because candidates found medically unsuitable for an opted post will not be given an alternative appointment.

RRB NTPC A2 Medical Standard

The Goods Train Manager post carries the more stringent A2 medical standard. The official notification specifies distant vision of 6/9, 6/9 without glasses along with required colour vision, binocular vision, night vision and myopic vision tests.

Candidates who have undergone LASIK or other refractive corrective surgery are not eligible for posts carrying A2 medical standard under this CEN.

The application modification window will remain open from 9 November to 18 November 2026.

Candidates may modify eligible details by paying a Rs 250 non-refundable modification fee per occasion.

RRB NTPC One RRB Rule 2026

A candidate can choose only one RRB under CEN No. 06/2026 and must indicate eligible Railway/Production Unit and post preferences within that chosen RRB.

Submitting multiple applications to the same or different RRBs may lead to rejection of all applications and debarment from future RRB/RRC recruitment examinations.

10. Upload the signature in the prescribed format.

RRB NTPC Live Photograph Requirements 2026

Candidates are required to capture a live photograph during the online application process rather than upload an old passport photograph.

• Use a plain white background.
• Wear non-white clothing for better contrast.
• Face the camera directly.
• Keep the entire face clearly visible.
• Do not wear a cap, mask or spectacles while capturing the image.
• Do not capture an image of a printed or existing photograph.

The signature must be in normal running handwriting. Signatures in block or capital letters are liable to rejection.

RRB NTPC Preparation Strategy 2026

Candidates should focus primarily on General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence & Reasoning, as these three sections appear in both CBT 1 and CBT 2.

General Awareness has the highest weightage in both stages — 40 questions in CBT 1 and 50 questions in CBT 2. Candidates should therefore regularly revise current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economics, science and important railway-related topics.
