Who Can Apply

  • Most posts require a degree from a University recognised by the University Grants Commission, but the exact qualification varies by post code.

Minimum age is generally 18 years, while Sub Registrar Grade-II requires 20 years, Probation Officer requires 22 years, and Executive Officer Grade III requires 25 years.

Age relaxation: for SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DC, BC(OBCM) and BCM candidates, many posts carry no maximum age limit; Deputy Commercial Tax Officer has a maximum of 37 years (39 years for Law degree holders). "No maximum age limit" means the candidate should not have completed 60 years as on 1 July 2026 or at the time of selection/appointment. Separate upper limits/concessions are prescribed for Persons with Benchmark Disability, Ex-servicemen and Destitute Widows, and candidates should check their exact post code in the notification.

TNPSC Group 2 & 2A Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process has a common screening stage followed by separate Main Examinations for Group II and Group IIA Services.

  • Common Preliminary Examination: objective OMR examination used for screening; Preliminary marks are not counted for final ranking.
  • Group II Main Examination: Paper I Tamil Eligibility Test is qualifying; Paper II General Studies is descriptive and is used for ranking.

  2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you are not already registered. OTR requires the prescribed Rs 150 registration fee and remains valid for the notified validity period.
  3. Log in with your OTR credentials and click "Apply" against Combined Civil Services Examination-II, Notification No. 07/2026.
