Introduction to IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2026

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the detailed notification for CRP CSA-XVI, the Common Recruitment Process for Customer Service Associates in participating public sector banks. The post is commonly known as IBPS Clerk, and the recruitment is for vacancies of the financial year 2027-28.

The notification provides State/UT-wise indicative vacancies that add up to approximately 11,403 posts. This is a calculated total from the notification tables; the PDF does not publish one consolidated national total, and Union Bank of India vacancies are marked not reported. Online registration is open from 1 August 2026 to 21 August 2026.

IBPS Clerk Vacancy 2026

The notification gives indicative State/UT-wise vacancies. Major totals include Uttar Pradesh 1,731, Karnataka 1,414, Maharashtra 1,051, West Bengal 946, Gujarat 698 and Tamil Nadu 675.

Vacancies are indicative and may change according to requirements reported by participating banks. Candidates may apply for vacancies in only one State/UT.

Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India participate in CRP CSA-XVI.

IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Degree in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government, as on 21 August 2026.

Computer Literacy

Computer literacy is mandatory. Candidates should possess a Certificate, Diploma or Degree in computer operations or language, or should have studied Computer or Information Technology as a subject in school or college.

Local Language Proficiency

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the local language of the State/UT selected. Those who studied the opted language up to Class 10 or above are generally exempt from a separate Local Language Proficiency Test.

IBPS Clerk Age Limit 2026

The age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 August 2026. Candidates must have been born between 2 August 1998 and 1 August 2006, both dates inclusive.

IBPS Clerk Application Fee 2026

The fee is inclusive of GST and must be paid online. Bank transaction charges are payable separately by the candidate.

IBPS Clerk Salary 2026

The Customer Service Associate basic pay scale is:

Rs 24,050-1,340/3-28,070-1,650/3-33,020-2,000/4-41,020-2,340/7-57,400-4,400/1-61,800-2,680/1-64,480

Selected candidates also receive allowances and perquisites according to the rules of the allotted participating bank. Exact in-hand salary varies by bank and posting location.

There is no interview. Only Main Examination marks are used for final merit and provisional allotment.

Main examination preparation should add banking and financial awareness, current affairs, advanced reasoning and quantitative aptitude.

The chosen State/UT cannot be changed after submission. Candidates should submit only one application.
