CSIR Technician Recruitment 2026 Preparation Focus

The exam structure makes Paper-II and Paper-III the most important papers for final ranking because only their marks are counted in the final merit list.

Paper-I still cannot be ignored because candidates must clear its prescribed threshold before Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated. Since Paper-I has no negative marking, candidates should attempt it confidently while maintaining speed.

Paper-II and Paper-III carry a penalty of 1 mark per incorrect answer, so accuracy becomes more important in these sections.

Paper-III alone carries 150 marks, making trade-specific technical preparation crucial. Candidates should also maintain regular preparation for General Awareness and English because Paper-II contributes another 150 marks to final merit.

For General Awareness preparation, candidates can follow daily current affairs, revise with Static GK and practise using the daily current affairs quiz.
