Candidates applying for the SAIL RSP Apprentice Recruitment 2026 must satisfy all eligibility conditions prescribed in the official notification. The eligibility criteria include educational qualifications, age limit, year of passing, and other apprenticeship-related conditions.

Educational Qualification

The required educational qualification varies depending on the apprentice category.

General Eligibility Conditions

Applicants must also fulfill the following conditions:

• Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination as regular students.
• Only candidates who passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible.
• Candidates awaiting results are not eligible.
• Candidates who have already completed apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act are not eligible.
• Candidates having one year or more of work experience after acquiring the qualification are not eligible.

SAIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

There is no written examination for this recruitment.

Selection will be carried out through the following stages:

1. Merit-Based Shortlisting
2. Walk-in Document Verification
3. Medical Examination
4. Final Merit List

Merit Preparation

The merit list will be prepared using the following weightage:

Candidates with higher combined merit scores will be shortlisted for document verification.

If candidates possess CGPA instead of percentage, they must convert it into percentage as per their university or board guidelines before document verification.

Candidates must report according to their respective trade or discipline. Reporting time for all categories is 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

Training Duration

Selected candidates will undergo one year of apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

During the training period, apprentices will receive practical exposure in various departments of Rourkela Steel Plant, including production, maintenance, operations, quality control, administration, engineering, and technical services.
